Change Country Spotify App

This morning I uploaded all of my music collection to Google Music (around 28 GBs) so that I could stream my favorite songs to any of my devices right from Google’s servers. When I boasted about it on Facebook, one of my friends from UK posted a comment saying that if only Spotify was available to Indian users I wouldn’t have to do that.

Hey guys my name is Scoby and in todays video I am going to be showing you how to change your spotify country! This is going to be a nice quick and easy tuto.

Though it was just a comment, I took it as a challenge. Even though I have heard a lot about Spotify, until today I didn’t have the urge to use it. It took me a couple of hours to start using Spotify as it was not available in my country. But now that I have documented it, my readers should be able to use it in a matter of minutes.

How to Use Spotify Outside US, UK and Any of Their Supported Countries

Step 1: First of all, we will have to change our proxy server to UK. There are many online web services available, but I personally recommend Tunnel Bear for the task. Using Tunnel Bear for Windows you can surf using UK and US proxy with a maximum bandwidth cap of 500 MB, which is more than enough for the task. You will have to create a free account before you can use Tunnel Bear.

Step 2: After activating the UK proxy on Tunnel Bear, open Spotify homepage and click on the Sign up button to make an account. It’s mandatory to have a Facebook account to register to Spotify.

Step 3: After you register with Spotify, log in to your account and select Edit profile from top-right corner. In the account settings, select United Kingdom as your current country and save the information. That’s the reason why we are on a UK proxy. If you are not on a UK proxy, Spotify will not allow you to change your country information.

Step 4: That’s all, you can go ahead and install Spotify on your computer. You can log in using your Facebook login credentials. Don’t disconnect the VPN service till you log in for the first time.

Voila, after Spotify logs you in for the first time, you can use it anytime you want even without VPN service.

After trying out Spotify on Windows, I had the urge to try it out on my Android see if it was really as awesome as they said it was. But just like in Windows, the Android app too had country restrictions. As usual, the app was not available to users outside US territory.

How To Change Name On Spotify

In the past we covered an app using which you could mask your Android Market (before it became Play Store) and install country restricted apps easily. But now, that app (Market Unlocker) is no longer available. MarketEnabler is a similar app for Android using which you can fool Play Store to download and install any country restricted apps on your device. The only requirement of the app is a device with root access.

Note: Even if you don’t have root on your device, you can still install Spotify on your device. We have shared a cool tip at the end of the post. So non-rooted Android users can scroll down to read it.

Using MarketEnabler

Step 1: Download and install MarketEnabler on your Android phone. As MarketEnabler is not available through Google Play, you will have to install the APK manually. You can use apps like AirDroid to transfer and install the app over Wi-Fi.

Step 2: Now open MarketEnabler and click on the Save current settings button to save your current Play Store settings before you modify it. After saving the settings, navigate to Settings list tab to find international operators numeric code.

Step 3: Long tap on Verizon [us] and select Fake this provider. That’s all, you can now open Google Play Store and search for Spotify app. This time you will be able to access and install it.

Step 4: After installing Spotify, run the app and provide your Facebook login credentials to log in. As soon as you log in to Spotify for Android you will get 48 hours free premium. This trial would be valid even if you have accessed 30 days premium trial on the desktop. If you are still enjoying the trial period, it will be extended.

Spotify

You can restore your Play Store to default settings or just leave it, as a simple restart will take care of that.

Cool Tip: If you don’t have root access on your phone you can ask any of your friends who has a rooted device to install the application and then transfer it to you over Bluetooth. What else are friends for, right?

Conclusion

If you thought Spotify for Windows or Mac was awesome, wait till you use it on your Android. You will never look back to your conventional music player provided you opt for the premium account. The feature of offline availability of tracks helps in cutting down data transfer cost too.
